Its ZoneAlarm products protect consumers from hackers, identity theft, and spyware. Check Point also offers services such as consulting, integration, maintenance, and training. The company was founded in 1993 by two former Israeli Defense Force colleagues and a security software developer. The company went public in 1996, and in 2009 acquired the security appliance business from long-time partner Nokia. Check Point has 5,000 employees and is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Investment rationale
Internet traffic volumes are doubling every three years and corporate networks are growing about 25% every year. At the same time, security attacks are becoming more sophisticated. The frequency and costs of data breaches continue to climb, with global average total costs of a data breach reaching USD 3.92 million in 2021. In 2019, the World Economic Forum listed cyber-attacks among the top 5 threats to global economic development. Cyber crime can also invade the privacy of consumers and therefore is considered a breach of the human right to privacy.
Check Point introduced the first commercially available firewall and has kept up its innovative edge with a steady stream of industry-first cyber security solutions.
