Founded in 1817, the company has over 15,000 employees and operates in over 30 countries.
Clean air: Johnson Matthey is a global leader in the development and production of emission control catalysts. Approximately a third of cars worldwide use its catalysts, thus preventing 20 million tonnes of pollutants per year from reaching the atmosphere.
Use of natural resources: the company is the world's biggest recycler of platinum group metals and it aims to increase the percentage of products sold with an end-of-life solution.
Healthcare: the company manufactures the vital compounds known as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and other specialist products used in drug development that pharmaceutical companies need to create life changing medicines.
Johnson Matthey targets to minimise its environmental footprint, reduce water consumption and waste and achieve net zero by 2040. The company also has targets related to its people to improve safety and diversity.
