Sjaak Sprangers converted his organic dairy farm (a one-man business) in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands, in 2002 and now supplies Campina (one of the largest Dutch dairy producers). He also keeps 10 guest house horses and works closely with Natuurmonumenten (Natural Monuments) in the management of grasslands with dairy cattle.
Sprengers also built an innovative barn: Het Kwatrijn, a barn in which the cows decide for themselves what they do and where nature is central. And that pays off: the cows get sick less quickly, live longer and produce better milk.
