Judith Santbergen, Fund Manager of Hivos-Triodos Fonds, emphasises the importance of this collaboration: “Our partnership with Apollo Agriculture represents a vital and sustainable investment in Zambia's agricultural future, enabling smallholder farmers to access the resources they need to thrive and adapt to the challenges posed by climate change.”

Apollo Agriculture focuses on transforming small-scale farming in Zambia, particularly in the maize and soya value chains - crops that are widely cultivated by local farmers. Eli Pollak, CEO of Apollo Agriculture: “This loan supports our vision for small-scale farming transformation in Zambia and empowers us to expand our reach and help farmers in their operations.”

Currently, Apollo works with approximately 200 field officers and has served over 28,000 farmers in Zambia, contributing to a total of more than 400,000 farmers served across Kenya and Zambia. Given that Zambia faces significant vulnerabilities to climate change, Apollo’s initiatives in risk mitigation and adaptation, such as providing drought-resistant seeds, blended fertilisers and agronomic training, play a crucial role in promoting climate-smart agriculture and enhancing the resilience of small-scale farmers.
