Kees van Beek, together with his wife Hanny van Beek, Jaap Korteweg and Dyanne Schrauwen, runs the organic arable and horticultural company Biotrio De Nieuwe Weg, located in Langeweg, North Brabant (the Netherlands). The company cultivates 240 hectares of arable land. The main crops are carrots, onions and potatoes for the fresh market. Canned vegetables and herbs are also grown for the industry.
The province of North Brabant declared Biotrio the winner of the ‘Agrofoodpluim’ in July 2016. The jury praised the sustainable management and active knowledge sharing, and presented Biotrio as an example for arable farmers who want to switch to organic farming.
