The Municipality of Veenendaal in the Netherlands has set up an energy company in collaboration with Quattro Energie: DEVO BV (Duurzame Energie Venendaal Oost, or Sustainable Energy Veenendaal East). DEVO supplies sustainable energy in the Veenendaal-Oost residential area. Its sustainable energy system consists of various elements, which are largely located outside the homes. The main components are the heat pump, two underground storage locations and a combined heat and power plant. Except for a heat meter to record the energy requirements, no special equipment is required inside the homes: the heat or cooling is distributed to the homes through the pipes of the distribution system.
