Investment rationale
Producing inverters for solar panels, the company plays a vital role in the energy transition. Inverters convert the variable direct current (DC) output of a solar panel into a utility frequency alternating current (AC) that can be fed into a commercial electrical grid or used by a local, off-grid electrical network. Inverters strengthen the efficiency of solar panels, and therefore contribute to the increased use of renewable energy and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Enphase's micro-inverters allow each panel to produce energy independently. This results in higher efficiency as less sun is needed to produce more solar energy, and it reduces the need to cut trees to remove shading. In addition, their system collects performance data on solar panel efficiency and provides cloud-based energy management.
