Iccrea Banca S.p.A. is the central entity of the Iccrea Cooperative Banking Group (GBCI), the largest cooperative banking group in Italy. It provides banking services to its affiliated cooperative banks and other financial institutions, including savings, investments, mortgage loans, financing, insurance, and online banking services. The territorial distribution covers almost the entire national territory, as a result of a mission oriented towards mutualistic support of local communities.

Investment rationale

Founded on cooperative, mutualistic values, ICCREA Banca’s mission centeres on local empowerment, social welfare, and environmentally responsible growth. Its operations are deeply anchored in the cooperative principles, prioritising mutual benefit over private gain and aiming to uplift moral, cultural, and economic conditions in the communities it serves. The rationale for ICCREA’s framework is to attract dedicated funding for loans and investments that bring positive environmental or social impact, in support of the group’s commitment to the sustainable development of local areas and to facilitating the ecological transition, innovation and digitisation, as outlined in the 2024-2026 Sustainability Plan.

Iccrea’s strong presence in Italian municipalities, and its mutualistic structure, enable the bank to better understand the needs of local communities. This helps the issuer address local social needs through the project categories outlined in the framework. These include affordable housing and lending to micro, small, and midsize enterprises in disadvantaged areas to support employment generation. These goals fit with our Societal and Energy transition themes.
