Established in 1914 in response to the Jed Mine explosion in West Virginia, MSA Safety is the global leader in the supply of safety products that protect people and facility infrastructures. Many MSA Safety products integrate a combination of electronics, mechanical systems and advanced materials to protect users against hazardous or life-threatening situations.

MSA Safety's core products include self-contained breathing apparatus, fixed gas and flame detection systems, portable gas detection instruments, industrial head protection products, firefighter protective apparel and helmets, and fall protection devices. Increasingly, MSA Safety provides connected safety solutions and digital technologies for enhanced workplace safety. MSA Safety has manufacturing operations in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America, and realizes more than half of its revenues from North America, with a growing international presence.

Investment rationale

MSA Safety's product suite is mainly related to ensuring the health and safety of firefighters and industrial workers, such as SCBA equipment (i.e. self-contained breathing apparatus products), helmets, and protective apparel and boots to firefighters, gas detection and industrial head and fall protection. By equipping first responders and workers with advanced, reliable safety gear, MSA Safety significantly reduces workplace injuries and fatalities, safeguarding lives in hazardous conditions. Beyond immediate injury prevention, MSA Safety’s innovations increasingly incorporate connected safety and digital monitoring technologies. These advancements enable real-time data collection and analysis, supporting faster emergency response, better risk management, and improved long-term occupational health outcomes.
