* Additional information

Terna operates the high-voltage and extra-high voltage grid in Italy and transmits electricity. The company operates about 75 thousand kilometers of electricity lines, 871 transformer substations, and 26 cross-border interconnection lines, making it one of the largest grid operators worldwide. Terna is responsible, under concession of the Italian government, for transmitting and managing the electricity flows on the high-voltage and very-high-voltage grid throughout the whole of Italy to maintain a balance between demand and supply, as well as for developing, maintaining and integrating the national transmission grid within the European grid. The company plays a central role in the ongoing transformation of the electricity market towards the use of eco-compatible and renewable sources of electricity, guaranteeing a secure and efficient supply to households and businesses. Terna is founded in 1999 following the liberalisation of the electricity sector. The company is headquartered in Rome and has 4,290 employees.

Investment rationale

Terna plays a pivotal role in enabling the energy transition, by strengthening and adapting its grids for more decentralised electricity generation, heavier peaks of supply and demands and more generation of renewable energy. The company therefore fits well with our Sustainable Mobility and Infrastructure theme.
