Aligned with SDGs

Joost Jonk and Piet van Andel run the organic company Van Andel Bio in the Netherlands. They farm on the fertile polder soil in southern Flevoland and grow various vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, peas and beans.

Specialties are onions and beetroot. The crops are grown with care and then sorted on our own company and prepared for health food stores and supermarkets. The mission is to forge a short chain with regular customers: from the plants on the land to the customers in the country. Soil fertility is maintained by extensive crop rotation and the cultivation of cereals, grass clover and green manures. Flower strips along field edges contribute to a natural balance.

In 2017, a well-maintained and fertile plot of land nearby came up for sale. This was purchased in collaboration with Triodos Bank.
