De Windcentrale in the Netherlands is an energy supplier where you become co-owner of a windmill and thus generate your own electricity. They split a windmill into thousands of pieces, so-called ‘Winddelen’ (‘Wind Parts’ in Dutch). As the owner of a Winddeel, you are entitled to part of the electricity generated by the windmill. Triodos Bank finances one of the windmills: the Boerenzwaluw windmill.
Harm Reitsma founded De Windcentrale in 2010 to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy in the Netherlands. He is convinced that the current way of supplying energy can be done cheaper and better: cleaner and with a shorter chain from production to consumption.
