Following the Paris Climate Agreement in late 2015, the private sector – in increasing numbers – has been responding to the sustainability goals outlined in the Agreement by looking to alternative energy sources, such as solar energy.
Dutch brewing company Heineken aims to become a climate neutral organisation. To this end, Triodos Renewables Europe Fund has financed the installation of solar panels on the roofs of several of the company’s distribution centers in the Netherlands and the Massafra brewery in Italy.
Impact figures 2016
|Installed PV capacity||2.3 MWp|
|Reduction in CO2 emissions||1,722 tonnes|
|Equivalent of household demand||1,850 households|
The Massafra project, developed in cooperation with renewable energy supplier Solar Access, adds 2.3MWp solar PV production capacity, bringing the company closer to achieving its climate goal.
