Cooperativa Agraria Norandino is a credit and savings cooperative working with (organic) coffee farmers in the highlands of North-East Peru. The coffee rust is a threat for many coffee plantations. Hivos-Triodos Fund provided a long-term loan for the renovation of coffee plants, increasing their resilience and ensuring future income for smallholder farmers. The loan product was so successful that it has been expanded and applied to other crops such as cocoa, sugar cane, mangos and bananas, keeping a strong focus on sustainable agricultural practices.
