COVID-19 and the subsequent social and economic crises have underlined once more that we must urgently address the severe shortcomings in our present-day economies and societies. While society has shown that we can be very innovative by the invention of new vaccines, the crisis aggravated societal problems. Moreover, the root cause – our relationship with nature – is unchanged. We must intensify our efforts to combat climate change, loss of biodiversity, and rising inequality, and build an economy that is fit for the future: one that is more resilient, more sustainable and more inclusive.
In short: we need a radical overhaul of our economy.
In the coming months, in a new series of articles and podcasts, we will explore the contours of such an economy, and the ways to get there. Investors play a crucial role in the transition to this new economy, providing the capital needed to realise real and profound change. The investment choices they make can have a positive impact on our planet and on society, and at the same time safeguard their chances of solid long-term investment returns.
Recovering from the crisis, we find ourselves at a crossroads; do we turn right towards a sustainable future, or do we turn left to return to where we came from. The choice is ours. Join us in building the economy of the future.
